White Peony Tea
This tea white tea is from Fuding County, Fujian Province, China. White Peony, known locally as Pai Mu Tan, is a delicate tea made from tea buds collected and withered prior to opening. When steeped the green leaves unfold resembling petals of a peony blossom
The tea leaves are covered in white downy hairs. Once infused the liquor is clear and takes on apricot-yellow colour, and the taste is mellow and fresh.
Health Benefits: White tea contains more polyphenols than green or black tea, which gives it more antioxidant power. Research reveals that white tea has 10 times more antioxidants than vitamin E. White tea is also a better source of theanine than black or green tea. Theanine is an amino acid that has a calming effect on the brain - by inhibiting a neurotransmitter called GABA. This makes this tea a relaxing drink to enjoy after a meal and before bed.
