Dark Roast Houjicha from Kyoto Obubu Tea Farm


Houjicha is a roasted green tea. The roasting process produces a tea that is smoky and nutty in flavour. The bitterness of the green tea is removed and the resulting tea is smooth with sweet notes.

When green tea is roasted to make houjicha most of the caffeine is naturally removed and so this makes this tea a great option for after a meal and before bed.

This tea can be enjoyed both hot and cold.

About the farm: Obubu tea farm is owned and operated by tea farmers in the town of Wazuka, Kyoto. Started by Akihiro Kita and Yasuharu Matsumoto in 2004, the company began as an agricultural social venture. Akky and Matsu's aim was and still is, to teach tea lovers both in Japan and overseas about the value of tea farming, and to contribute to society through tea.
