Beautiful Kohiki Ware Teacup Made In Japan

Kohiki is a type of glaze that originated from Korean potters and became popular in Japan with the samurai classes in the 1500's.

This beautiful cup has a rough iron-rich clay body with a light porcelain glaze. The crackle effect makes the cup extremely tactile as it is both smooth and rough to touch.

Kohiki ceramics are said to undergo three changes as they season with use. This is known as ‘keshiki'

Dimensions: approx 10cm / 8.5 cm dia

Cup comes in a signed paulownia wood box.
