These Shigaraki ware bowls by Hechimon are suitable for multiple purposes. They would make beautiful tea bowls but equally have a nice size and shape for rice or soups.

Each piece is handmade and finished and so the glaze on each bowl is unique.

Shigaraki pottery is made using the clay from the bottom of Lake Biwa, Shiga prefecture, Japan.

About the brand: Hechimon is a registered trademark of Marui ceramics. Shigaraki is counted as one of the six ancient kilns in Japan and is said to have a long history of 1260 years. In 1976 (Showa 51), it was designated as a traditional craft by the country. The original climbing kilns set up by Marui in 1925 are still standing today.
