Description

Handmade Flat Tokonameyaki Kyusu teapot

This beautiful handmade teapot is made by the second generation Tamako traditional craftsman Hirotaka Umehara. It has a wide flat shape that makes it ideal for premium quality teas. The shape allows the tea leaves to have a have larger space to open without being crowded. This means less catechin is released and the tea's true sweetness is revealed.

This pot has a yōhen finish. Yōhen means "changed by the flame". Each piece is unique as when the teapot is fired, the heat fluctuates in the kiln, resulting in varying colour changes on the surface of the pottery.
